Be rid of under eye baggage

1. MAC Studio Lights. ( I don't actually know if they sell this anymore, but if you can score some online... it's awesome! )
2. Bare Minerals Well-Rested. It has a yellow tinge to brighten dark shadows and doubles as an eye shadow base. Plus.... I LOVE BARE MINERALS! I swear by it- I use all their products.... maybe I'll do a post on all the Bare Minerals stuff I've used...
* First, dab on the MAC studio lights ( I use Frangipan ) all around the eye area including the inner eye area near the tear ducts.
* Then use a concealer brush and apply a thin layer of Well-Rested and make sure to blend well.
= Fresh looking eyes!

It always does wonders for me and I always use this combo when I'm sleep deprived or hungover. Hope this helps!

Early Summer Fav : Star Trek

Should've blogged about this the week it came out. Once again, please forgive me for my absence. If you haven't watched Star Trek yet, march yourself to the nearest theatre and prepare yourself for two hours of hot, sexy, action-filled fun. Yes, of course, I attended the midnight showing and made a weak attempt to put together a decent costume. I ended up being super busy and just made some badges for my viewing party. Here are some of the fans with *ahem* real costumes...

Next, I'd like to address the fact that the entire new cast is ummm how do you say.... HOT?!?! P.S. I want to bear Spock's children.

Some things I loved:

1. Spock and Uhura romance: I thought it was weird at first, mostly due to shock! Never did that happen in the original series, and Uhura [Nichelle Nichols] actually shared the first interracial kiss on television with Kirk [William Shatner]. I did end up liking the two together. They're both hot and they're both total badasses.
2. Sulu's unfolding katana sword!?!?: Need I say more !?! Cool as shit.
3. Karl Urban's performance: I think he was well casted and was a great Leonard "Bones" McCoy. They brought back a lot of phrases from the original McCoy so I'm sure the die-hard Trekkies were pleased.
4. Special effects: kickass.
If you thought J. J. Abrams already crapped money, think again. This new Star Trek for the younger generation can go in any direction that Abrams pleases because he sets it in an alternate universe. Let's just hope that the sequels are equally as good.

I've been gone way too long... But I have an adorable new member of the family!

I bought a rabbit and she's the love of my life. She's half mini lop and half pure cuteness. She's three pounds so she's super tiny and cute! >.<

Tidbits of Me.

Here are some of my favorite things I've worked on the past year:

I made this dress out of thick elastic, a sheer jersey knit, and three eyehooks.

I made this cutie sheep with an Aranzi Aronzo doll pattern, an old tee shirt, an old bathrobe, and some felt.

These are some pillows I made out of $1 Japanese wash cloths.

I decorated my initials out of some letters I got from Urban Outfitters on sale.

I LOVE ROBOTS. The second one is still in the works.

I love Nightmare Before Christmas. I painted this on a plank of wood as a homage to Tim... and to make my room look cute :D

I just pre ordered... my Nintendo DSi.

Yes. I am a total nerd... but can you seriously deny the adorable-ness of the new DSi??? [got it in blue!]

Nintendo is releasing the third generation of DS in matte blue and matte black to the US on April 5. I pre ordered mine on Amazon.com for $169.99. Some new features include:

*  %12 thinner
*  Screen is now 3.25" instead of 3"
*  Power button on the inside
*  2 cameras [one outside and one inside] so you can take pictures and also manipulate them
*  Free browser capabilities
*  DSi shop for purchasing content over wi-fi
*  Music player with a SD card

I'm so freakin' excited, now I have something to do in class [I wish i was kidding].

Japan gets these badass new colors:

.... jealousy is an ugly color.... I WANT THE PINK ONE!!!!

I am the Queen of Lipbalm. This is true.

I wish this picture of my nightstand was an exaggeration.

This isn't even close to my entire lip balm collection- these are strictly my before bedtime balms. I probably use a different one every night depending on my mood, but there are still some that I remain loyal to. Note: I'm personally partial to the more waxy and thick types of balms- I dig a more silky feel rather than a glossy one. Here are my top picks:

  1. MyChelle Love Your Lips in Peach Mint : Though this lip balm is the size of a glue stick... it is SO relaxing. The scent is so yummy and not overpowering, and it smells like you just walked into a spa. It's a bit denser and waxier than a typical lip balm, so it delivers a more matte look. I personally like it because it doesn't turn your lips white and I still get that consistency I love. It's chock full of antioxidants too, so your lips are getting some great health benefits and damn does it show.
  2. Blistex Deep Renewal : Deep Renewal has a coenzyme Q10 Formula and SPF 15. I use this when I expect some sun exposure. It smells a bit like cocoa butter, and the consistency is similar to a cocoa butter stick - it's thick, but has a slight sheen to it. The main goal of this lip treatment is to reduce aging signs and super hydrate your lips. It makes my lips look nice and plump while protecting them from the sun- A great combo indeed!
  3. Vaseline Lip Therapy in Cherry : This staple is literally one dollar, yet it is my all time favorite night time balm. I slather on an ample amount and I wake up with gorgeous plump lips and no flaking. In the winter when your lips get so chapped, this is your savior. Yes, it's pretty much like regular Vaseline, but it's thicker and has an awesome cherry scent. I suggest you use this every night if you are prone to chapped lips. It's the cheapest, fool-proof way to give your lips the night time hydration it deserves.
  4. Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm/Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm : I think Burt's Bees is practically everyone's favorite, but here's why I love it. The cooling and refreshing sensation of the original Burt's Bees cannot be beat. You get the cooling peppermint experience without the smell or taste of a 'medicated' menthol lip balm. I use the original beeswax when I go to yoga class. It keeps my lips hydrated without a greasy sheen and the smell provides clarity. Ohm.... Now the replenishing pomegranate oil infused Burt's Bees is equally as awesome, but it has a different consistency and the smell is so invigorating. Every time my girlfriend puts it on I can smell it and it uplifts me every time. The replenishing has a thinner consistency and goes on with more sheen. Either way, they both rock!
  5. Nivea A Kiss of Rejuvenation Q10 : This is my latest favorite- it has SPF4 and contains the anti-aging component with Q10. It feels like cashmere on your lips! If I'm not in the Vaseline mood, I slather my lips with this at night. It has a faint smell and though most squeeze tubed balms are plagued with a slippery greasiness, A Kiss of Rejuvenation has a super silky hydrating feeling.

Etsy... A Treasure Trove of Jewelry

So..... I recently went cah-razy over a website I stumbled upon when searching for new earrings [obsession]. Etsy.com is a jewelry conglomerate where you can sell and purchase handmade goodies. I LOVE unique jewelry, and on this fabulous website you can find pieces at every price level.... starting from literally $.20... and if you haven't already pissed your pants, they sell yummies from handbags to furniture to wedding to vintage. The best part is you can also sell your goods to other artists or whoever. I literally went on a jewelry rampage and found some badass artists to fond over. I have included some of my findings.... Now go indulge yourself!

My Top Five Mascaras of All Time.

So, I'm Chinese. We aren't exactly known to be blessed with the most luscious lashes... YET I have managed to pull off some great length and volume with these top picks.

  1. Fresh SuperNova [$25] : This gives me incredibly fluffy lashes with great length and no clumps. It stretches your lashes without a harsh, fake look. Though it is a bit pricey, it is totally worth the money. I honestly use this only when I go out or for more special occasions, but only because I go through mascara like water.
  2. Loreal Telescopic Carbon Black [$8] : This is my all time drugstore fav. When you want that extra length and drama- this is the way to go. I love this mascara because it's so cheap and it looks amazing. It literally doubles my length and gives it a nice curl. I recommend going over the outer edges with an extra coat if you want an extra oomph.
  3. Maybelline Define-A-Lash [$7] : For a natural look, I reach for this baby. Define-A-Lash gives you ZERO clumps and it looks natural, light, and fluffy. I use this everyday and I never look too done up. It's dummy proof because you can't o.d. on it. Building up layers still look natural and its a good way to have lush lashes without the clumping. Day time wear for sure.
  4. Guerlain Le 2 de Guerlain [$35] : Is it a weapon or a mascara? So.... I have mixed feelings about the Guerlain, I'm not going to lie. I have never had a mascara that stretched my lashes so far in my life- it was incredible. It lifted my lashes into a big curve while nearly tripling the length (i kid you not). The tiny wand on the end was amazing at catching the little outer corner eyelashes and helping them reach their full potential. LoL- my issue with this was the fact that my eyes looked cross eyed in pictures! My lashes were freakin huge and it made my eyes look all kooky. On everyone else, it looks incredible so I know I'm just the oddball. When it comes to everything it promises though, this mascara tops the charts.
  5. Lancome Hypnose [$24] : For some reason, I just loved using this as a top coat. I would brush this on top of a coat of Loreal Telescopic and bam- incredible length with amazing volume. It's enriched with vitamin B5 and it's uber soft on the lashes. It felt like it hugged my lashes and everyone thought they were fake. There's no need to pull or yank with this one, a simple stroke and you'll see the results.
How do you take off all the gunk?
OLAY Mascara and Make-up Remover [$8]. I SWEAR by it. You wont lose any lashes, just gently use your fingers to rub the creamy concoction onto the lids and wash off with your face wash. I wear a lot of eye make-up and ever since I bought this, I've yet to lose a fellow comrade.

If you haven't seen Watchmen... GO NOW.

I have to make it clear- Watchmen is an absolute masterpiece. I went with my best friend at midnight on thursday and it was the best three hours I've had in a while. I am absolutely ga ga nuts over Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre II. She looks beyond stunning in the movie, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Her outfit is KICKASS. I am only half-way through the book, but I must say that they did a wonderful job staying true to the story. It reflects the brilliant writing of Alan Moore and thank god they didn't butcher the adaptation. I made a futile attempt at mimicking the costume, but I at least made friends with a good Rorschach.

Seriously, you must run to the theaters if you have not graced your eyes with the awesomeness of Watchmen. I won't spoil it for you but- It's jam packed with love, action, gore, drama, and sex. What's not to love?

Yours Truly, Miss Louie.

Hello Ladies.

My name is Miss Louie. I love all things beautiful.

I am a:
  • Make-up Whore
  • Beauty Product Junky
  • Fashion Slave
  • Art Fanatic
  • Movie Buff
  • Lover of anything cute and adorable
...... and I want to share my personal findings with you.

I've literally spent over several thousands of dollars on make-up and face products. I've been doing my own make-up since the sixth grade (scary I know). From baby blue eyeshadow to hot pink lipstick, I've tried all the trends and tested all the name brands. I absolutely love experimenting with make-up and trying out new products.

Besides my cosmetic addiction, I'm also a huge fashion fanatic. I LOVE FASHION. I cannot seem to restrain myself when it comes to shopping or oozing over the latest Vogue. I sew and make my own LBDs (won best dressed in high school ; p). I'm addicted to clothes and accessories.

My goal for you, ladies, is to provide some good reviews and tips so you can make a conscious and well informed purchase next time you're on a make-up spending binge. I love indulging myself with an expensive treat at Sephora just as much as I love scoping out deals at Walgreen's, so I'll give you the down low on all different types of products. I'll keep you updated on some of my runway favs and season's must haves while posting any cute tidbits I come across.

My blog is devoted to my endless love for cosmetics, fashion, art, and all things beautiful <3

Enjoy.

Love,
Miss Louie
